It comprises of six prisons in the Tihar Complex with a total population of around 11,500 prisoners against a sanction capacity of 3,687 prisoners. This prison population has about 84% undertrials and includes about 550 women prisoners with about 70 children below 6 years of age dependent upon them. About 300 prisoners are foreigners.
